January 2020
Welcome to 2020 and we hope it will be another good year for the club and all its members. We again have a varied programme planned for you to be held in our new location which we are sure you will find much more user friendly.
This year sees the 60th anniversary of our own Kent Area of NAFAS and to mark this milestone a special full afternoon tea, followed by an exciting demonstration from Designer of the Year Robin White, has been arranged. This event will be held at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone on 17 June with tickets priced at £20. We hope that Canterbury will be well represented so make a date in your diary. The celebration afternoon will be instead of the annual Members’ Day this year.
Also on Area’s calendar is their JDSE&P Day at Ditton Community Hall near Maidstone which is being held on Friday 20th March. The day consists of a morning speaker, Richard Griffin, a former Protection Officer to the Royal Family, followed by a two course lunch. The afternoon demonstrator is Nick Grounds presenting ‘Floraliscious’. Tickets for the whole day are £24 so if anyone would like to attend, please contact Vicki so that tickets can be ordered. Contact details email vickihodgkiss@hotmail.com or telephone 01227 751511.
Our own AGM and supper on Monday 20th January is fast approaching however, response has been very slow this year. If you are planning on attending, please let us know as soon as possible as we need to know numbers for catering. If you prefer to pay via bank transfer please contact our Treasurer, Diana Cooper on dianacooper@me.com or 01795 534129. We would prefer payment in advance however, we will accept payment on the night BUT we still need to know in advance that you will be staying to supper. The address for the new venue is Ashford Road Community Association, Ashford Road, Thannington Without, Canterbury CT1 3XR. We will put signage at the entrance to the hall. If you are coming from Canterbury City towards Ashford the hall is on the left hand side of the road and obviously, if you are approaching from the Ashford side the hall is on the right.
We do hope you will be able to support us and look forward to seeing you all again on the 20th.
